Common Questions

1If a Christian commits suicide will they go to hell?
Jesus prayed this prayer while on the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34 NKJV). Consider this: If Jesus could extend mercy and forgiveness toward those who didn’t know what they were doing 2,000 years ago, couldn’t He also extend mercy today?
2What will Heaven be like?
Heaven for the Christian will be a place of glorious life that will never end. Joy inexpressible, limitless peace, pure love, beauty beyond description—that’s what heaven is. Greatest of all will be the presence of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, with whom we will enjoy fellowship forever. Loved ones who have known and loved the Lord will be there. Revelation 21:2 says, “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
3Does everyone go to heaven?
God’s will is that everyone would go to heaven, but because man has been given free will, some will decide they don’t want God. Only those who confess with their mouth and believe with their heart that Jesus is Lord and give their lives to Him, will get to go to heaven. Romans 10:9-10
4How does someone know they are going to heaven?
Because God’s Word tells us, and God cannot lie. If you have put your personal faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the Bible says God has made you a member of His family. ‘God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life … These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life’ (1 John 5:11-13). As someone once said, ‘God said it—I believe it—that settles it!’
5Do those in Heaven know what is happening on earth?
The Bible doesn’t answer all our questions about Heaven—but it does indicate that those who have already entered Heaven may be aware of events on earth. The book of Hebrews, for example, pictures life as a great arena, with those who have gone before us cheering us on in our daily spiritual struggles (see Hebrews 12:1). Once when Jesus’ appearance was changed and His heavenly glory shone through, Moses and Elijah spoke with Him about events on the earth (see Luke 9:30-31).
